At this moment, masks were just starting to be required for the public in the Northeastern United States. Prior to this, masks were only to be worn by healthcare professionals. This shift was scary to watch, as it made the situation more real in our homes and towns.

In discussing the COVID-19 crisis, I once heard someone say that waiting for a cure is like Christmas without a calendar. We don't know when it is going to happen, but it will be a celebrated day.
The fear of the unknown has become a very real phenomenon during this crisis. Not knowing when a cure will come. Not knowing if you will get the virus from your weekly trip to the grocery store. Not knowing if you are a carrier and could get your whole family sick. We live in a time of waiting and asking ourselves "what if".
We also live in a time that will be a historical moment in the future. Every day and every new development in this crisis will be studied. If you think too much about it, you start to feel more like a lab rat than a person. It's an odd and surreal feeling knowing that you are living in a historical moment, especially when you know that, in the future, the outcome will already be known. In history classes, you study time periods through a timeline. You memorized important dates and you largely know the result before you even finish the lesson. But, when you are living those events, there is no timeline to refer to. You don't know what will happen next. It can keep you awake at night.
