Did you change your spring break plans because of the virus? From what to what?
Yes. I am a student athlete that plays womens lacrosse which is a spring sport. I was supposed to have stayed on campus to participate in athletic competition and practices throughout the duration of spring break and into the rest of the spring term. We went on a team trip to VA Beach, and when we returned all athletic competition was canceled. We had to pack our things very short noticed and return home as soon as possible.
How did you feel when you were informed the remainder of the semester would be held online?
I was excited to have the ability to relax, but once the days of online classes were approaching I began to be very stressed out seeing I didnt know how it was going to work. As they continue, it is nice to have my own schedule of being able to complete assignments, but the in person learning is something you cannot compare this to, and Im getting much less out of my academic experience.
Where are you living for the rest of the semester? How did you feel about leaving campus? Or what's it like remaining on campus?
I was very upset to leave campus because it was a very important time in my life. As well, I was upset for the seniors on my lacrosse team. We all were together (boys and girls lacrosse) on campus and we all went through the process of leaving together which made it much easier to handle. I am residing at my friends home in Maryland until I am able to safely leave.
What has been your experience with moving classes online? What's good? What's not so good?
Good parts are the freedom of mobility and independence while still being able to listen. The rest is pretty bad, there are a lot of distractions and I feel as though I am not learning as well as I do in the physical classroom.
How has the virus (and the precautions taken to prevent it spreading) impacted your daily life?
Extra sanitary, less movement.
How worried are you about getting the virus?
No
Do you know anyone who has gotten COVID-19?
Yes
Are you staying in? What are you doing to pass the time?
Staying in, doing school work, trying to be as healthy as possible.
Are you going out? Where do you go and what is it like?
On walks, it seems somewhat normal in nature but in stores and things the mannerisms of people are every different.
What is giving you hope and/or strength right now?
My appreciation for living life and being with people.
