Did you change your spring break plans because of the virus? From what to what?
Yes. I was planning to visit my long distance boyfriend, but we both decided to cancel the plane trip due to fears of getting the virus while at the airport and possibly giving the virus to each other or bringing the virus home to my family.

How did you feel when you were informed the remainder of the semester would be held online?
I was surprised. Whenever things happen on the news, it's easy to think how it will never affect you. It's easy to be sympathetic towards others, especially hearing about the outbreak in Italy, but it's much harder to think about your normal routine changing. And when it actully does, it stops you in your tracks.

Where are you living for the rest of the semester? How did you feel about leaving campus? Or what's it like remaining on campus?
I am living at home.

What has been your experience with moving classes online? What's good? What's not so good?
I was on leave from campus for the semester when the outbreak happened, so I wasn't affected by the college moving to online classes. Though, i still participated in Zoom appointments with professors and academic groups. It has been odd to transition. I'd say the hardest part of going online is finding a place to speak without disturbing the others in my house who are also using video chat for work and school.

How has the virus (and the precautions taken to prevent it spreading) impacted your daily life?
I have had to cancel all plans for travel, including spring break. My siblings, who are both teachers, have been laid off from their jobs. My mother, a fulltime employee at a marketing company, is working from home. I'm honestly okay with these changes though because I know that if we cancel plans now and stay home, we can do our part to slow the virus and will be able to make new plans sooner. Life has slowed down and we've taken more time for walks, especially with the spring weather, and spending time doing simples house tasks.

How worried are you about getting the virus?
I'm not as much worried about getting the virus as I am about getting the virus and giving it to my parents, who are both at a higher risk of having worse symptoms.

Do you know anyone who has gotten COVID-19?
I do not know anyone personally who has gotten the virus.

Are you staying in? What are you doing to pass the time?
My family and I have quarantined, only going out for groceries. To pass the time, I play online video games with friends in an effort to feel like we're still together even thouh we're all separated. I have also spent time walking the neighborhood with my dogs, staying six feet away from other people.

Are you going out? Where do you go and what is it like?
I only go out to get groceries. My family tries to stretch our groceries and leftovers out as long as possible to avoid going out. It's interesting to see how much changes between each grocery trip. The last time we went to the store, the amount of people wearing masks drastically increased and the stores had inplented floor markers for social distancing in lines.

What is giving you hope and/or strength right now?
Blind hope. We know so little about this virus and, while we don't know when this will end, it's nice to dream about summer. I know not to hold my breath for summer, or even for the fall semester and continuing my studies, but blind hope is better than nothing at all.

Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about what you're feeling or experiencing right now?
People are home so social media has become a major outlet for a lot of people. People use it for both good and bad purposes. Lots of anger on Facebook. Lots of fake news. Though, it feels like the only way to remain connected now, even when the only conversations are arguments.
