How did you feel when you were informed the remainder of the semester would be held online?
I was extremely heartbroken. It meant I no longer could see the friends I was becoming so close to, and that I had lost out on almost 2 months of my freshman experience.
Where are you living for the rest of the semester? How did you feel about leaving campus? Or what's it like remaining on campus?
I packed up my dorm and my friend's dorms, as they are European international students, and it was bittersweet. It was sad to leave my own room, but then to pack up their rooms and remember all the memories we had and should've still been having broke my heart inside.
What has been your experience with moving classes online? What's good? What's not so good?
Online classes have been odd- there's something about having everyone staring at one another on a computer screen that doesn't feel right, and the whole vibe of online classes is just not the same.
How has the virus (and the precautions taken to prevent it spreading) impacted your daily life?
The virus has impacted my daily life because there is nowhere to go, except to the grocery store. We can't be with hometown friends, we can't go to the beaches (Gov. Baker shut down the beach parking lots), and it's just a lot of close time with immediate family.
Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about what you're feeling or experiencing right now?
I just feel sad a lot of the time, because all of the friends I made at Conn live far away. My friends, people who I have formed a close bond and have become very used to seeing, live in Europe, Central America, and Pittsburgh, all very far from where I live. Because of Covid-19, I've lost out on those 2 months of memories I was going to have with them, and instead have to settle for an occasional FaceTime call or text. It's not the same whatsoever, and it makes me really sad to know I can't see most of them until late August, at which time they'll have new memories with their other friends.
