Contribution Terms of Service

You are donating to the Linda Lear Center for Special Collections and Archives ("Lear Center") at Connecticut College, its successors, and assigns your recollections, photographic images, videos and/or other material ("material") related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  You represent and warrant that you are the creator of the material and have full right, power and authority to give the material to the Lear Center.

You further represent and warrant that the material you submit was not copied from or based, in whole or in part, upon any other literary, photographic or other material, except to the extent that such material 1) is in the public domain, or 2) you have permission of the copyright owner, or 3) its use is allowed by "Fair Use" as prescribed by the terms of United States copyright law.

You retain copyright in your material. Subject to any limitations you indicate on the submission form, your submission grants the Lear Center a permanent, non-exclusive license to preserve, disseminate and use the material in accordance with its educational and research mission, including promotional purposes, in all media in perpetuity.

Access and Use

Material you donate to the Lear Center shall be organized, preserved and made available for research in accordance with our access and use policies. If you so indicate on the submission form, your material will be kept anonymous.

If you indicate on the form that your submission is "public," the Lear Center may use your donated material (with or without your name as you indicate) in whole or in part for digital collections, web or physical exhibitions, to illustrate exhibition catalogs and College publications, or for any other means as serves our and Connecticut College’s educational mission. If you do not indicate your submission is "public," only researchers approved by the Lear Center will have access to your material.

Deaccessioning and/or Disposal

You authorize the Lear Center, as part of its appraisal process, to deaccession, transfer or dispose of your material if it does not fit our established collecting parameters.  Submitted material must not violate any confidentiality, privacy, security or other laws. We reserve the right to discard or mark private any submission that Lear Center staff identify as offensive or irrelevant, or for any other reason within their professional judgment.

Privacy

Note that this site collects names and email addresses in order to validate submissions. The Lear Center does not share this information. In submitting material to this archive, be aware that we publish the fields "creator" and "co-creator." If you want to personally remain anonymous please check the box "keep identity private."
